Lucas Ammeter model 369145 dated 4-37, so I believe it to be original to my car.
It is dirty inside and I want to replace the green plastic light filter which is crinkled up.
How do you remove the chrome ring and glass?
It does not seem to unscrew or come loose with a partial turn, like you usually see on instruments.
I do not see the little tabs around the chrome rim such as I would expect to see.
I do see 4 tabs farther down which hold the Bakelite body into the outer housing.
I hesitate to bend those as they might break off.

Re: Disassembling the Amp meter
I haven't had to pull one apart but I think those are the "removal" tabs. Definitely scary.

Yes, you’ll need to pry the four tabs up very carefully, just enough to allow the Bakelite body to slide out of the bezel. Take care to slide the dial and glass out with the body, or you risk bending the needle. I found replacing the green plastic strip (acetate?) to be a challenge.

Re: Disassembling the Amp meter
I managed to fold out the 4 tabs without breaking any of them.
The dial face is separate, and the needle is fed through, so you have to be careful getting it out of the face.
The glass does not come out of the rim easily. It appears to be crimped in together with the rim over the shell.
There is also a sealing ring of rubber, and a green plastic filter for the lighting.
