Rear axle nut and seal

Post by Mick bibby » Wed Apr 16, 2025 7:39 am

Hi hopefully someone can help with this , I am struggling to get my rear drivers side nut and seal on my axle , it goes on about half a turn by hand and will only go about another half a turn with the socket before it goes really tight, I bought another kit of nuts and seals from the Octagon club thinking by some chance I had I faulty nut( very very unlikely I know) but that was the same! I bought a thread file thinking I could take a few thou off but that’s not working, the passenger side went on no problem, any suggestions ? The threads look fine the old nut that came off was also a bit tight but not like this .

A friend had this issue. Eventually we had to force it on and off a couple times and then it was ok. Multiple nuts had the same problem on his axle, just on the right (driver's) side.

Hi Mick,
As I remember, you have a TA?
I went through this back on April 14, 2021 and wrote about it on the MG Experience T Series Forum.
Search "TA Rear Axle Hubs" if this doesn't work.
