Voltage regulator issues

Post by timandgerda » Sat Apr 05, 2025 2:58 pm

Hi all.
My TC voltage regulator has packed up and I have decided to install an electronic one that fits inside the original casing. The wiring is fairly straight forward with one wire to the dynamo frame, one to the D terminal an earth and power supply. My issue is that I have had to remove both coils and the resistor at the rear to instal it and this seems to leave cable 37 (brown with white) from the ammeter with nowhere to go. Has anyone installed one of these and if so how did you wire up the ammeter?
Any advice gratefully received!
Cheers
Tim

If you are doing this ourself, I'd be interested to know who supplied the parts you are installing? The complete units are bit pricey in North America.
Thanks, Bryan.

Bryan,
Check out these gents in the UK. Satisfied with my dealings with them.

I used electrodynamicsolutions - UK based. Excellent communications from the supplier regarding any queries. I bridged the two left hand side terminals (on the rear of the unit so nothing visible) to allow power to the unit and now the dynamo is charging well

I managed to apply some common sense and worked it out. Was very please with myself and then saw the posts from everyone showing me how to do it and that they had all been there before.
Reassuring to see that I did it properly though - thanks all
